L ‘Empordà is a region of Girona that has a wide variety of typical products that nurture and enhance both gastronomic and wine culture in Catalonia. Among its most characteristic products are Empordà wines, the l’Escala anchovies, rag curd cheese, Palamòs prawns, bonica aubergine, the Pals rice or Girona apple, among many other products.
All these products are under the seal of quality of “Productes de l’Empordà”. Brand that is managed by the county councils of Baix and Alt Empordà whose function is to verify that this product has the basic characteristics that must have this Denomination of Origin.
According to the regulation, for a product to possess the designation of origin seal this must be an original product from location and production. In its entirety, from the area of which it has the appellation of origin.
In order for a product to have the “empordà” designation of origin seal, it requires:
- Submit the quality guarantee stipulated for each product belonging to the brand.
- To be elaborated with a traditional process in the region.
- Have a high volume of production that can fulfill the needs of the Catalan market.
Wines of the Empordà

- The rose wines, characterized by having a cherry color very defined thus endowing them with an indisputable personality. In addition to being fresh, they possess a delicate aroma and a moderate degree.
