The Costa Brava hides precious and unexpected places that throughout this blog we have been discovering. In this article, we will discover another of these corners: Arco del Portitxol.
Located on the Escala and very close to the well-known Ampurias Ruins, this arch is located on a beach with the same name, Playa del Portitxol.
To reach this beach on foot, we must follow the direction of the Archaeological Museum of Catalunya-Empuriès and walk along this promenade surrounded by pine trees until we reach a unique wooden staircase through which we will descend.
Once on the beach of Portitxol, you can enjoy its 255 meters of fine sand, which thanks to its beauty and the quality of its services has been awarded with the Blue Flag of the European Union.
Once there, in addition to enjoying the Mediterranean Sun, its waters and the unmistakable sea breeze, you will have spectacular views of the Portitxol’s arch … what more could you want?
So, if you fancy a walk this is a perfect opportunity from where you can see beautiful panoramic views of the beaches, the rock formations, such as the famous rock arch that gives its name to the “portitxol” beach.
Where to eat on the Scale?
If after a day at the beach you are looking for restaurants in La Escala to eat and enjoy the gastronomy of the area, we recommend our restaurant Can Miquel. A restaurant with market cuisine located in the heart of Cala Montgó a few meters from the Mediterranean Sea.
Of Mediterranean origin, dedicated to traditional cuisine since our beginnings, we have grown and evolved without leaving aside the essence that characterizes us: local cuisine and traditional Catalan recipes.
Come to Can Miquel and taste the perfect balance between flavor, aroma and texture. Meat or fish but especially rice that will take you to the Mediterranean within every bite.
