The beaches of Riells, well known for being ideal beaches to visit with children; they have fine sand, very long and of little draft.
Places of historical and cultural interest
If you want to know more about the culture and history of l’Escala you cannot miss the famous Greek Ruins of Empúries, where you can know the Greco-Roman past of the first Greek colony that settled there in the fourth century BC.
In these ruins, is located the Archeology Museum of Catalonia.
The old part of the city is full of places with great cultural value. We recommend you not to miss the opportunity to visit the Fishermen’s Guild, the Marine Cemetery, the Parish Church of Sant Pere and the Casa de la Punxa.
Traditional gastronomy in l’Escala
The main product of this locality is their anchovies. In Francesc Macià 1, it is located the Anchovy and Salt Museum, where visitors will be able to know the traditional processes of salting and many other curiosities of this millenary tradition in l’Escala.
