With the arrival of good weather, you feel more than ever like doing outdoor activities, it is in this time when we all want to take walks, hike to the beach or just go out to discover new places with our family and friends.
That is why today we want to talk about routes of little difficulty that you can walk on foot through Cala Montgó and in which you can take the opportunity to make a stop and enjoy our nice restaurant in l’Escala overlooking the sea.
Route through Camí de les Termes
It is a route to do on foot. Despite having a long duration, it does not have much difficulty and it is very pleasant.
It starts right out of Cala Montgó in the direction of Els Termes street, always following the path of the campsites.
Immediately after passing by the Camping Cala Montgó we cross the street Punta Milà where we will continue our way guided by the green and white signage.
Always heading west along Camí dels Termes, we will continue walking for about three kilometers until we reach Mas Cortal Nou, our point of arrival and from there we will continue this same road but in the opposite direction to return to Cala Montgó.
The interesting thing about this route, besides being able to observe the beautiful natural landscapes, is to be able to see up close the traditional architecture of this fishing village where the flora is also worth admiring, as it gives us the opportunity to appreciate a remarkable amount of orchids.
This route has a total duration of 1h and 45min
Road through the village
This route takes a lot more time than the previous one but in turn, it offers many landscapes to see.
This route also starts from Cala Montgó, and from there we will head towards the center of l’Escala up Trencabraços street in the direction to the right, always looking to match the GR-92.
Above Illa Mateua beach awaits for us, where we will look for Punta Montgó Street to turn left and begin to edge the sea passing the tip of Els Cinc Sous, Cala del Salpatx and Les Penyes, until reaching Port de la Clota.
Through Port de la Clota by the street of Romeu de Corbera you will arrive to Riells Beach. Here we will find its magnificent promenade well known for the references made to the literary work “The Little Prince” with the figure of the Little Prince sitting on a wall looking towards the sea and the fox sitting on the stairs of the Plaza de l’Univers.
Following the promenade to the old town of l’Escala we will arrive to the Platja, where we will take the street El Cargol and then later turn to the left to reach Cala de la Creu, where we can observe the fishermen’s barracks.
About 200 meters along the Ronda del Pedró you will find Lampadòfor, the monument to the Olympic flame, and turning right you will pass several beaches such as El Rec del Molí, El Portitxol, Les Muscleres and Moll Grec ending this route in Sant Martí D’Empúries.
These two routes are ideal for getting to know the fishing village of l’Escala. There is nothing better than finishing one-day routes and walks than enjoying all the traditional flavors in our restaurant of Mediterranean cuisine in l’Escala. Enjoy the good weather we will be waiting for you in Cala Montgó!
