Beaches and coves of l’Escala you should not miss to visit
We start with Cala Montgó, here you will find a beach with an urban environment of about 430 meters of fine sand. It is a very familiar beach with easy access and parking near the beach. It is located very close to the Natural Park of Montgrí and from this beach; you can access the coastal path that reaches to Punta Venosa, or also reach the Montgó Tower.

The “Platja de les Barques”, better known simply as La Platja, is located in the town center of l’Escala and is one of the most visited in the area, it is on this beach where popular fiestas such as the Cantan de Habaneras , The Salt Festival or the Greco-Roman Fair of the Triumvirat Mediterrani. Its golden sand and calm waters make this beach an ideal place to relax.
Imagine being able to take a bath on the beach next to a Hellenistic moll of the port of the ancient Greek and Roman cities, you can do this in the Moll Grec de l’Escala. This is a port well known because it entered the Greek and Roman civilizations to the Iberian Peninsula. In addition to its spectacular natural landscape, it has access to the heart of Sant Martí d’Empúries, to the Museum of Archeology of Catalonia-Empúries and to the Paseo Marítimo de Empúries.
From the same promenade of Empúries we can access another great beach of l’Escala, the beach El Portixol, which also has easy access to the Museum of Archeology. It is a beach of fine sand and about 245 meters in length with an access to the viewpoint of the fantastic Bahía de Roses.
